The key challenge is ensuring that these treatments are managed effectively to ensure market access whilst maintaining their availability to producers. Committee members were: • Peter Hall • Alison Hamilton • Bill Stacy • Bob Barwell • David Hill • David Slade • Michael Mactaggart • Paul Saward • Peter Grey • Dr Sasha Lanyon • Will Wilson • Terry Toohey Research Development Adoption and Sustainability Tony Hegarty, Cattle Council board member and cattle producer from New South Wales, chaired the committee this year. The Committee’s work was supported Annabel Johnson, Research and Policy Officer, whom fulfilled the responsible for the strategic agenda development and effectively implementing the committee’s policy recommendations. The membership of the Committee was an excellent mix of experience and youth, guaranteeing that the current knowledge on industry systems is passed onto the next generation. The policy areas that have been the focus of the Committee over the past 12 months are: 1. SAFEMEAT Initiatives Review – assessment of the current industry systems and working to integrate them to ensure that they remain robust and effective for the future. The key outcome was the delivery of the Final Report of the SAFEMEAT Initiatives Review for consideration by industry. The Report sets out a method to deliver more streamlined and integrated industry systems for Australian producers. 2. Development of future management strategies for trade sensitive treatments and Hormone Growth Promotants (HGPs). This is an important area of policy
