KINg ISLaND BeeF pRODUCeRS gROUp FeaTURe DaY The impressive list of guest speakers at the 10th anniversary goes to show why the reputation of the King Island Beef group is highly regarded in the beef industry. TFga attended the annual feature day on October 17 2007, which included the very impressive list of guest speakers including Senator Richard Colbeck, Rod polkinghorne, Dr Rod Manning and Dr peter Barnard. TaSMaNIaN FReIgHT eQUaLISaTION SCHeMe (TFeS): The new Federal government has announced to extend the freight equalisation scheme to goods travelling between mainland Tasmania and King and Flinders Island. The TFga have been vigorously lobbying the Federal government for a number of years to back an extended TFeS to King and Flinders Island. The 2007 season was very mixed due to unfavourable seasonal conditions across most of Tasmania. This seasonal uncertainty is putting and will into the future put pressure and demands on the Red Meat sector both in this state and across the nation.
